You And I- A Code Lyoko Romance fic, by Lucy McGonagle

Three Years Ago-
“Good morning, Jeremie!”
A bright, sweet voice filtered though the fog of Jeremie’s mind, waking the boy from his sleep. He jerked up, and saw her. He smiled, and got out of bed.
“Good morning, Princess.”
“I hope you got some rest,” the pink haired A.I. said, her voice worried, even over the distortion of the computer. The blond genius smiled at her.
“Of course, Aelita, don’t you worry.”
Aelita smiled, and Jeremie felt his heart melt.

Present Day-

Aelita smiled at the ceiling of her room, thinking of the past. Thinking of when she first met Jeremie. When she was simply a computer program-
And he was her savior.
A blush crept up her cheeks. She remembered what she had asked those many days and evenings, talking with him. Things she had not the nerve to ask or say now.
A knock on the door interrupted her thoughts.
“Come in, “ Aelita called, still staring at the ceiling.
“Um…Princess?”
Aelita sat up immediately, her heart lifting. “Hello, Jeremie!”
The young man – he really was one, now, being fifteen- smiled that shy, sweet smile of his. “Hey, Princess. I was just wondering what you were up to…being it Saturday and all.”
Aelita smiled and shrugged. “Nothing, really. Just… remembering.”
Jeremie face fell slightly, and Aelita shook her head quickly. “No, not those memories.” She grinned and blushed slightly. “Something far more pleasant.”  She patted a empty space beside her, and Jeremie sat down.
Aelita smiled, then reached over, and pressed the play button on the computer screen. Instantly, a song began to play, softly, through the speakers.

“I’ve seen your face a thousand times
Have all your stories memorized
I’ve kissed your lips a million ways,
But I still love to have you around.”

Jeremie looked at her, a grin forming on his face. “I remember this song…they played it at the last dance…you were dancing…” Aelita nodded, blushing. She couldn’t dance, but she loved trying anyway.
Flash back-
“And now, the new hit song by Pop icon Gwen Stefani, ‘The Real Thing’!” Shouted the D.J. announcer.
Aelita smiled as a new song began, and she watched her fellow students as they mingled, danced, and created pandemonium, something Yumi had assured her was completely normal.
“Hey, are you guys gonna dance or what?” Yumi herself walked over to the two teens leaning against the gym wall. Jeremie looked uncomfortable, and Aelita was trying to keep him company.
The blond genius shook his head. “No dancing for me.” He looked at the pink-haired girl next to him, and smiled in spite of himself when he saw she was bobbing her head to the song. He blushed, then nudged her playfully. “You go dance, Princess.”
Aelita turned those green eyes on him, looking concerned. “Jeremie, I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable,” she told him, and Jeremie smiled at her.
“Go on, Princess, I’ll be fine. I’ll watch from here.”
Aelita paused, then nodded. “Promise you’ll dance if I ask you, though?” She pleaded suddenly. “For one song?”
Jeremie blushed again. He couldn’t say no….he just couldn’t…but… “Princess, nobody wants to see me dance,” he told her, though it did no good, and he knew it. Aelita simply smiled.
“I’m not nobody,” she teased, and put a hand on his cheek. “You’ll be ok?” she asked, her smile fading slightly.
Jeremie nodded, and blushing, patted her hand. “Don’t worry.”
“Come on!” Yumi said, grinning and grabbing Aelita’s arm. “Let’s go!”
Aelita laughed and followed her friend to spot not far away. She looked back, and saw Jeremie, standing there, watching her. She smiled, blushing, then began to dance.

“I’ve held you too many times to count
I think I know you inside out
And we’re together, most days
But I still love to have you around..”

Present Day-

Aelita sighed happily, bobbing along to the song, just like she had done at the dance months before. Jeremie chuckled.
“You can dance, if you want,” he teased, and Aelita made a face at him.
“You never did dance,” she said suddenly, remembering. Jeremie blushed.
“Believe me, Princess. You don’t want me to dance.”
Making a decision, Aelita stood, and grabbed his hands. Before he could protest, she pulled him off the bed and smiled.
“Come on, Jeremie, please?”
Jeremie’s will broke, and he sighed. “All right, just-” he stopped, as Aelita started to dance and sing along to the words.

“And you’re the one I want
And there’s no
Twist of phase
And you’re the one I trust
Our love is the real thing..”

He couldn’t take his eyes off her. The way she danced... It was so…so fluid! It was like a ballet dancer and a mermaid, mixed together. Suddenly, she turned, and looked at him, her eyes glowing, her face lit. Jeremie swore he felt his heart stop. Never had he seen her look so beautiful.
Aelita didn’t really think about her dancing while she was doing it, she just followed the music. Smiling, she turned to look at Jeremie, and saw that his blue eyes were wide behind his glasses. She blushed, then took his hand.
“Please?” she asked, tilting her head to one side. Jeremie relented. Aelita giggled happily, and put her hands on his shoulders, and starting singing along again. Jeremie stood, unsure what to do, and just watched her.

“Don’t go away, my love, my love
I want you to say, in my life
Don’t go away my lover, my love
I’m happiest when wasting time”

He looks so cute when he’s nervous, Aelita thought, and grinned. Blushing slightly, she took his hands, and placed them gently on her waist.
“There,” she said, and grinned. Then she put her hands on his shoulders. “Yumi told me this is how a couple is supposed to dance together,” she told him, and saw Jeremie flush. Realizing what she said, she blushed too, then smiled.
The two blushing teens moved slowly in a circle, trying to step to the beat, instead of on each other’s feet. Jeremie was staring at his own feet, trying not to make fool out of himself. He couldn’t believe it. He was dancing with Aelita. Aelita, for goodness sake! He glanced up at his pink-haired dancing partner, and smiled. Her eyes were closed, and she was mouthing along with the song. He suddenly felt an urge to do something…to touch her, pull her close…he blushed, and looked at his feet again.
Aelita opened her eyes, and giggled softly. Jeremie stared at his feet, his cheeks pink.

“You’re a salty water ocean wave
You knock me down
You kiss my face
I know the storms will always come
But I still love to have you around…”

Aelita smiled, and tilted his chin up with one hand. “Look at me, Jeremie, not your feet,” she whispered.
With pleasure, Jeremie though, and blushed again.
“Y-you’re a good dancer, Princess,” he told her over the music, and Aelita shook her head, blushing.
“No, I’m not…I just…it’s very free. It’s fun to dance,” she said, blushing deeper. She sounded like an idiot!
Jeremie smiled. “Yes, Princess, it is fun,” he admitted. Aelita smiled, and their eyes met.

“And heaven knows what will connect
So emotional
You’re so complex
A rollercoaster built to crash
But I still love to have you around…”

A strange feeling suddenly rippled up Aelita’s spine as she stared into Jeremie sapphire eyes. Her breath shortened, and she couldn’t seem to move away from him. Jeremie’s eyes grew darker blue as he gazed down at her, and Aelita felt him trembling slightly.
“J-Jeremie?”
His lips parted, and his cheeks were turning pink. Aelita licked her own lips, not knowing what to do. The words of the music seem to echo around her.

“And you’re the one I want
And there’s no
Twist of phase
And you’re the one I trust
Our love is the real thing..”

Before she could realize what she was doing, Aelita moved closer to Jeremie, wrapping her arms around his neck. Jeremie pulled her closer, his hands on her waist gently moving on their own accord. The distance between them disappeared and Aelita let her eyes flutter closed as their lips met.
A shock went though both their bodies, and they held each other close; nothing but them and the music.

“It’s you there when I close my eyes
And you in the morning
I never thought you’d still be mine
Or I’d really need to have you around
Don’t go away, my love
I want you to say in my life
Don’t go away, my lover
I need you, you’re my love supply
It’s only you and I…”

They pulled away slightly, and Jeremie pressed his forehead to hers. Their breathing mingled, and the music surrounded them.
“The words are so true,” Aelita whispered, more to herself than to Jeremie. She looked into his eyes, and smiled.
“It’s only you and I,” Jeremie whispered back, and kissed her again.
^_^ Yep, I've done it again.
And yes...I am a Gwen Stefani fan...lol. ^_^
